Understand the walking day
Uttarakhand Tourism describes the route to Tungnath as approximately 3.5 km from Chopta, with a further steep climb of about 1.5 km towards Chandrashila. Distances are only a planning reference, not a measure of difficulty. Gradient, weather, footing and your walking pace all affect the day. Do not assume Chandrashila is compulsory.
A realistic three-day outline
For a suggested trip from Haridwar, travel to the Chopta-area stay on day one, keep day two for the permitted trek and return on day three. Request the precise accommodation location, trek starting point and vehicle arrangements. A property described as being in the Chopta region may not be beside the trail.
Temple access and trail access differ
A trail being accessible does not mean Tungnath temple is open for darshan. Ask for the current official opening status and local access advice close to departure. If conditions deteriorate, the operator should shorten or replace the outing rather than promise completion.
What to confirm in writing
Clarify guide arrangements, meals, accommodation type, toilets, hot-water availability and the handling of optional local charges. Share your walking experience honestly. The itinerary is a proposed route until dates, services and price are confirmed.
Editorial planning guide, not a confirmed booking. Rates, dates, hotel availability and inclusions are confirmed in your written quotation. Weather, access and seasonal operations are subject to current local conditions.
